How a Book Found Me: The Story of Illustrating “Stories of the Wardrobe”

Friends, I’d like to share a project I worked on in the spring, and now, after many stages, it’s finally ready to be seen. And even touched!  In October, I picked up the book “Stories of the Wardrobe” from the post office, for which I created the illustrations.
💛 As it often happens to me, without planning to illustrate a book, the book found me. That is, I decided to try making test sketches for a book I was offered to illustrate, and then the writer, Daiva Kandrotienė, chose me among other artists to create all the illustrations for her book. This was a reissue of a Lithuanian children’s book, and they were looking for a Ukrainian illustrator because, in addition to the Lithuanian version, they were making a Ukrainian version as well—especially for children from Ukraine currently living in Lithuania due to the war.
💙 It was an interesting experience, especially because it coincided with me being far from home for two months and working in unfamiliar conditions. But I was surrounded by the spirit of nature and silence.
The story of the book is very warm, wonderful, and kind. Truly worth attention, especially since it has been awarded as the best children’s book of 2014 in Lithuania. I’m glad I had the opportunity to illustrate this magical book.

So, I’ll leave the link here in case anyone would like to get it for their children in Ukrainian language:
